overview shot of New Denver and New Denver Flats

In view looking east, Slocan Lake is in the immediate foreground, the village of New Denver sits on the delta formed by Carpenter Creek, and the New Denver Flats are approximately in the middle of the photograph, with Idaho Peak and adjacent mountains in the background.

The clearings of the 101 year old Harris farm can be seen in the right foreground, and the drainage of Silverton Creek is to the far right.

In the past, the New Denver Flats, a relatively undisturbed area of forest with many patches of old-growth, served as an emergency alternate watershed for New Denver, which currently draws its tapwater from underground wells.
