Silva Forest Foundation logo The Silva Forest Foundation are ecoforestry consultants located in the Slocan Valley. They are the authors of An Ecosystem Based Plan for the Slocan Valley. The 'Silva Plan' was commissioned by the CORE process and has been endorsed by the SVWA as a means of making a sustainable living while protecting water values. A version of the plan may be downloaded from Silva's Documents Library page as multiple .pdf files. You will need a PDF reader installed on your system to view them. Download the reader (free).
The Sinixt Nation are the original people of the West Kootenays. The purpose of this site is to raise awareness of their history.
Forest Stewardship Council logo The Forest Stewardship Council is an international, non-government organisation created for the purpose of implementing an independent, third party certification system geared to enabling consumers in the marketplace to know that the wood-based products they purchase come from responsibly managed forests.
logo The Fraser Headwaters Alliance is an association of local watershed groups similarly to the SVWA.
tree graphic The International Network of Forests and Communities The Network works to actively promote and support ecosystem-based community forestry world-wide, and in the global arena. Their vision is embodied in the Saanich Statement of Principles on Forests and Communities.
Whole Earth Masthead Whole Earth Review - Access to tools and ideas. Successor to the Whole Earth Catalog, since 1974 has furthered social change and new movements by introducing ideas such as watershed consciousness and whole system thinking to readers. Recent issues have covered community building, environmental restoration and bioregionalism.
